As previously announced, the beneficiary of IDBank and Idram’s Corporate
Social Responsibility initiative “The Power of One Dram” for November 2025 is
the national hackathon “AI4Biodiversity: AI Solutions for Nature.” The event aims
to promote the development of AI-based tools and solutions for the preservation
of biodiversity and to address both local and international challenges in the field.
“One of the key directions of ‘The Power of One Dram’ initiative is environmental
protection, and from this perspective, the hackathon was very interesting to us, because
in this case, technological progress is being used to serve biodiversity — something we
believe is vital for Armenia’s natural environment. In general, IDBank and Idram
consistently support projects that look toward the future, and this initiative is one of
them,” said Tatevik Vardevanyan, Head of the Communications and Corporate Social
Responsibility Programs Department at IDBank and Idram.
The AI4Biodiversity: AI Solutions for Nature national hackathon was held within the
frames of the 17th Conference of the Parties (COP17) to the Convention on Biological
Diversity, which will take place in Armenia in 2026. The event was organized by the
science communication company Kaitlab, the Enterprise Incubator Foundation (EIF),
and the Women in Climate and Energy (WiCE) NGO, in cooperation with the Ministry of
Environment of RA.

For a full day at the High-Tech Accelerator of the Engineering City, participating
teams presented their ideas and received consultations from field experts. Among the
mentors, serving as a financial advisor, was Merine Revazyan, SME Lending
Coordinator at IDBank’s Corporate Business Credit Department.
Speaking about the format of the event, the participants, and future goals,
hackathon co-organizer and fundraising manager Meri Mamikonyan noted:
“We aimed to merge two innovative fields and find green solutions through 21st-century
technologies, and of course, to involve young people who wish to develop in this area.
We are talking mainly about young representatives of the IT sector and future
biodiversity specialists. I would also like to mention that we are planning to organize an
international hackathon within the framework of COP17, which will unite experts and
innovators from different countries on a global scale.”

The hackathon prize fund of 3,500,000 AMD was provided by IDBank and Idram
within the framework of “The Power of One Dram” project. The winning teams received
Idcoins, which can be used to implement their projects and purchase necessary
materials. Idcoins can be used at more than 25,000 points of sales where Idram
payments are accepted.
According to jury member and IDBank Board member Yelena Khachvankyan,
biodiversity must be firmly established in public consciousness as a crucial factor for
any environment and for the health of Armenia’s nature:
“All the issues and questions discussed today are directly related to our current way of
life and to how our children will live in the future. IDBank’s CSR policy is based on
principles that emphasize the importance of a prosperous future for all and equitable
economic development — and therefore biodiversity as well. Even if only a portion of
today’s presented projects are implemented and later expand into more stable and
large-scale initiatives, there will be a significant transformation in the field,” she added.

To take part in the good deeds of “The Power of One Dram,” all payments must be
made via the Idram&IDBank app, the online platforms IDBanking.am and
banking.idram.am, or through Idram and IDBank terminals. For each payment, the
companies will allocate one dram to support meaningful programs.
